The Construction Project Engineer supports the execution of assigned projects, ensuring technical scope, schedule, and financial metrics are met. This role assists the Project Manager with daily technical activities, planning, and execution, and may require travel, temporary duty assignments, or relocations.
Key responsibilities include managing job controls for compliance, providing technical support in construction planning and quality control, preparing daily logs and design submittals, monitoring subcontractor progress, responding to RFIs, reviewing implementation plans, assisting with cost, schedule, and cash‑flow baselines, supporting subcontracting strategy and change management, maintaining the project risk register, overseeing master and look‑ahead schedules, securing permits and approvals, and leading safety, quality, commissioning, closeout, and turnover processes.
- Manage job controls to ensure compliance with technical requirements, contracts, budget, schedule, and BIM coordination.
- Provide technical support for construction planning, quality control, design interpretation, and constructability reviews.
- Prepare daily logs, technical design submittals, reports, and document inspection and testing results.
- Monitor daily progress of craft and trade subcontractors for compliance with technical and contract requirements.
- Respond to subcontractor RFIs by reviewing technical requirements and coordinating with the engineer of record.
- Review subcontractor implementation plans, including project management, procurement, safety, and quality plans, to identify risks.
- Assist the Project Manager in establishing baseline cost, schedule, and cash‑flow for assigned projects.
- Support subcontracting strategy, subcontractor development, estimating, buyout, and change management actions.
- Create and manage the project risk register to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Oversee the project master schedule and implement daily activities, including three‑week look‑ahead schedules.
- Lead efforts to secure necessary permits, environmental approvals, and licenses.
- Lead a strong safety and quality program throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead commissioning, closeout, and turnover processes.
- Maintain technical and application knowledge of built environment infrastructure, including buildings and infrastructure.
- Navigate and move around construction sites, including walking, climbing ladders, and standing on uneven surfaces.
- Operate motor vehicles and adhere to PPE requirements such as hard hats, safety vests, and steel‑toed boots.
- Enforce safety standards and maintain strict adherence to safety protocols on the construction site.

A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is required, along with construction industry experience, strong communication skills, and technical knowledge of the built environment. Experience with Procore or similar software, TAKT planning, and an understanding of project estimating and scheduling techniques are advantageous.
The role demands physical ability to navigate construction sites—walking, climbing ladders, standing on uneven surfaces, lifting up to 50 pounds, and operating tools and equipment. Candidates must be able to work in varying weather conditions, adhere to safety protocols and PPE requirements, and maintain concentration under stressful or tight‑deadline situations.
- Hold a BS in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Possess experience with Procore or similar construction management software.
- Demonstrate TAKT planning experience.
- Exhibit strong communication skills and ability to work well with clients.
- Lift up to 50 pounds and handle tools and equipment requiring coordination and manual skills.
