  • Confers with other client (City) divisions and departments, government agencies, community members, and business representatives to analyze community development needs and policies.
  • Reviews and manages City program and policy changes, coordinate division activities, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinates, maintains, and monitors the establishment of effective operational systems, including the processing of land use entitlement applications, annexations, and environmental reviews under CEQA and NEPA.
  • Serves as staff and technical adviser to various City committees and commissions including the Planning Commission. In this role the position administers zoning and planning regulations of the client agency.
  • Confers with development applicants and citizens by acquiring and coordinating planning reviews, attending meetings, performing presentations, responding to questions, and monitoring planning processes.
  • Selects, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the work of private planning, environmental, and other consulting firms to ensure the quality and timeliness of services delivered.
  • Staying up to date on trends in the industry, including zoning, building and construction codes, environmental policies, and additional regulations.
  • Provides management direction to personnel in the planning and implementation of city planning, entitlement processing, environmental evaluation and review processes, and other related community development services.

  • Solid working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and other related programs for City Planning documentation.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in related work content and project management experience.
