You’ll support data‑center startups by performing on‑site mechanical, electrical, and control checks, and lead startup, checkout, and acceptance testing for warehouse fulfillment and manufacturing systems in industries such as food and beverage. Partnering with automation and controls engineers, you’ll test, troubleshoot, and validate their systems on‑site while providing clear communication and updates to customers and project teams. Travel rotations follow a days‑on/days‑off schedule (e.g., 5 on‑2 off, 10 on‑4 off, or 14 on‑7 off), bringing new challenges and locations each project.
We’re opening our 2026 hiring pipeline for curious, adaptable problem‑solvers who love travel, hands‑on work, and being part of a team that actually knows your name. If you can laugh through flight delays, figure things out on the fly, and enjoy solving complex problems, this role could be a perfect fit.
We’re looking for candidates who genuinely love travel and are willing to be away from home on rotation, with logistics handled by us. Preferred experience includes a working knowledge of electrical systems, programming, and communication networking, along with adaptability, grit, and strong communication and problem‑solving skills. Candidates must live within 50 mi of a major airport (relocation assistance available), have a personal vehicle within 45 days of employment, and be authorized to work in the U.S. A technical degree or equivalent 3+ years of hands‑on experience in electrical, mechanical, or automation engineering is required.
Physical requirements include walking long distances across large facilities, climbing ladders or working at heights, and lifting, carrying, or moving up to 50 lb, as well as standing, kneeling, or reaching for extended periods in varied environments such as construction sites or outdoors. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
Our four‑week paid training prepares technically skilled individuals for the field, covering electrical systems, programming, and communication networking. Success requires a basic foundation in these areas, so if you’re new to them, this role may not yet be the right fit.
You’ll combine work and travel, experiencing new cities while tackling unique projects and earning travel rewards as you work directly with customers across North America. There is no office to report to, and you’ll be away from home while on assignment.
Starting salary ranges from $60,000 to $75,000 depending on location, education, and experience, complemented by per‑diem for meals, mileage reimbursement, utilization and weekend bonuses. We may not have endless budgets, but we have endless trust, teamwork, and appreciation of knowing every person by name.
We invest in your development through paid training, annual merit raises, and a guaranteed 5 % salary increase after six months. You’ll learn, advance, and build a career that can take you in multiple directions, with ProAutomated as your biggest cheerleader.
Benefits include health, dental, and life insurance, a matching 401(k), short‑ and long‑term disability options, paid vacation, and flexible time off after 18 months. We take care of you both on and off the job.
If you want a challenging, travel‑filled career where your effort matters, we’d love to meet you. ProAutomated is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity, inclusion, and employment decisions based on qualifications, merit, and business needs.
