Become an Engineer 3 at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. As an Engineer 3, you will play a key role in supporting critical SCADA initiatives within the Distribution Management System (DMS). You will apply your technical expertise across multiple projects to ensure system reliability and performance. In this role, you’ll be responsible for identifying and resolving complex application issues through root cause analysis, while also developing and maintaining procedural documentation to improve team efficiency. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams that interface with DMS to drive continuous improvement and optimize system integration and operational workflows.

  • Conducts engineering and related studies with full technical responsibility for planning and coordinating high-impact complex projects
  • Provides support and technical training to junior engineering levels
  • Provides engineering and technical expertise and guidance for the identification, analysis and resolution of high impact, complex and/or cross-functional problems in engineering
  • Ensures technical issues and problems are resolved in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner utilizing available resources
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
  • Supports audits and inspections; ensures compliance with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations
  • Conducts risk assessments and implements risk mitigation strategies to ensure the safety and reliability of engineering projects
  • Supervises, leads, and coordinates work with full time and contract employees in the execution of new technical strategies, equipment or standards.
  • Conducts life cycle assessments for utility infrastructure materials and processes; improves preventive maintenance procedures to decrease overall downtime
  • Ensures the engineering facility design basis is controlled and design basis documentation is maintained

  • Strong communication, ethics, negotiation, teamwork and optimally handle multiple assignments at once.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field.
  • Qualified applications with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment in accordance with the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers and the California Fair Chance Act.
  • Five or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
  • Experience working with and/or supporting an electric utility Distribution Management System.
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • Possesses proficient analytical skills to troubleshoot complex problems related to real-time systems.
  • Five or more years of experience working with SCADA Systems.

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
  • This position has an option for a 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule or 40hrs/5 days a week.
