The Role
Overview
Conduct wildlife surveys, collect and analyze data, produce reports, and support field projects.

Tasks
-Collaborate with other disciplines including vegetation, soil, construction & preparation and aquatics on field programs and reporting -Complete data entry from field surveys and data analysis (e.g., remote camera photo and acoustic recording unit analysis) -Work with technical team members to execute wildlife programs which would include: -Prepare pre-field planning for projects (e.g., safety planning, mapping preparation, equipment preparation) following Montrose Standards -Fly in/fly out two weeks on-two weeks off rotation at a northern oil sand mine. -Support on wildlife-related field studies, with an emphasis on wildlife and bird surveys, nest sweeps, and amphibian surveys and relocation -Contribute to the generation of technical reports -Conduct wildlife surveys with a focus on breeding bird, nest sweeps, wildlife sweeps, amphibian surveys, and species-at-risk -Work with technical team members to prepare field summary reports and contribute to the preparation of technical reports -Support the field portion of projects in accordance with Montrose Standard Operating Safety and Technical Procedures -Provide technical support in terrestrial and wildlife-focused projects -Provide field data QA/QC and initial interpretation of field data -Partner with extensive, long-standing clients such as municipal governments, conservation authorities, academia, and private industry.

What You Bring
-This position will include approximately 90%+ travel for field work and 0-10% office work -Valid driver’s license and experience driving trucks on remote roads -Vegetation identification and wetland experience are considered an asset -Willingness to travel for and perform field work over extended periods of time (i.e., up to 2 or 3 weeks at a time), requiring overnight stays a work camps -1-6 years of experience in wildlife assessments and related report preparation -Wildlife survey experience in one or more of the following: breeding bird, nest sweep, wildlife sweeps, acoustic recording unit and camera deployment surveys, and amphibian surveys -Effective organizational, writing and communication skills -Ability to conduct remote work including helicopter work and off highway vehicles -Strong safety mindset -B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree(s) in biology, ecology, or environmental science
