Description

• Set up and remove traffic control devices (cones, message boards, temporary signage) to ensure safe Maintenance of Traffic.
• Operate bucket trucks, scaffolding, ladders and aerial platforms for work at heights.
• Perform basic maintenance and repairs on bridge structures, portals, railings, expansion joints, doors and painting.
• Service roadway catch basins, sumps, pumps, fire hydrants and other mechanical assets using hand and power tools.
• Maintain equipment room ventilation and basic electrical systems (emergency phones, CCTV, electronic signs, lighting).
• Transport crew and equipment to sites using trucks, trailers and specialized vehicles.
• Provide emergency response coverage, including overtime, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Repair and maintain highway surfaces (potholes, striping, reflectors) using concrete and asphalt techniques.
• Remove litter and debris from highways and medians with litter claw or similar equipment.
• Maintain slopes, berms, culverts, drains and control vegetation using mowers, trimmers and chemical sprayers.
• Inspect and repair signs, guardrails, fences and lighting, replacing components as needed.
• Conduct snow and ice removal and sanding operations to keep roadways clear.
• Apply basic math, read and interpret technical documents, safety rules and maintenance manuals.

Requirements

The position is a road maintenance technician responsible for servicing and repairing contracted roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, bridges, tunnels, vegetation and related assets. Compensation ranges from $24.85 to $26.75 per hour, and a minimum DZ driver’s license is required (AZ preferred).

Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and includes exposure to traffic, heights, confined spaces, and the use of manual and powered tools. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lb, climbing, standing, walking on diverse surfaces, and wearing required personal protective equipment.

• Hold a high school diploma or GED; minimum one year experience in infrastructure maintenance (preferred).
• Possess a valid DZ, BZ or AZ driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Demonstrate hazard recognition, safe work practices and use of required PPE.
• Show strong attention to detail, ownership of responsibilities and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Possess basic knowledge of concrete and asphalt repair methods and proficiency with hand‑powered tools.
