Supports diversity, HOKU programs and develops continuing education opportunities (e.g. site visits, lectures, road trips) to expose design staff to influences which will stimulate design creativity and innovation.
Serves as Principal-In-Charge and/or Project Manager for one or more projects
Conducts research and seeks thorough understanding of client needs for planning requirements and design solution opportunities.
Responsible for Healthcare regional projects
Participates in interviews and recruiting of professional staff.
Assists in the preparation of press releases and other public relations materials publicizing Healthcare projects.
Responsible for assisting in the development and successful execution of practice goals, business plan and profitability; aligns efforts with regional and national business unit plans and goals
Prepares and delivers staff evaluations; contributes to performance development, compensation decision-making and allocation processes of department.
Assists in the preparation and delivery of design presentations to clients and drives consultant work to achieve design goals.
Works closely with project managers with respect to budget and schedule constraints.
Supervises and may assist with the production of drawings and documents that convey the design intent
Participates in selected marketing and business development opportunities and presentations.
Incorporates Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.
Fosters a commitment to external and internal client service.
Develops and maintains positive relationships with consultants, contractors and jurisdictional/approval agencies to increase stature in the market and community resulting in increased potential business opportunities.
Utilizes and encourages best uses of design technology for presentation and production purposes; champions BIM and Revit technologies
Develops and nurtures positive client relationships.
Responsible for conceptual design excellence; initiates project design concepts and idea discussions, provides guidance to design teams during project design development
Provides day-to-day administration of the regional Healthcare practice
Maintains an appropriate billable and non-billable percentage of personal and departmental time.
Participates in local or state professional associations, maintains active membership, and attends conferences valued by clients as appropriate. Public speaking may be required.
Assists in preparation of award submittals.
Implements and utilizes HOK Standards for all projects and processes. Personally contributes to HOK Standards through new procedure initiation and development
Can lead teams as Principal-in-Charge
Participates in Market leadership
Assists in preparing fee and workload projections for assigned projects
Identifies new business opportunities while developing current client relationships. Listens for and seeks out new projects which may exist or are being formulated.
Assists others with project deadlines as available

Takes personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
Acts as mentor by coaching and motivating design teams and individuals; fostering an environment of mutual respect and trust among members of the group as it grows and develops.
Responsible for the development and execution of the regional business unit’s Healthcare practice marketing strategy; assists with the overall branding and development of HOK’s Healthcare national practice.
Encourages staff exploration and innovation to achieve healthcare design excellence and continual improvement.
Strategizes and assists marketing department in development of marketing campaigns, materials, webinars, etc. and overall proposal preparation.
May participate with other Healthcare Regional Leaders and Directors of Healthcare in HOK firmwide activities.
Engages clients in explorations that respectfully challenge their understanding of appropriate design solutions.

Bachelor’s degree in architecture or health management or equivalent in education or experience required. Master’s degree in architecture preferred.
NCARB registration preferred.
Communicates design intent in a clear and compelling way; demonstrates the incorporation of client’s requirements and goals within design solution.
Utilizes speaking and writing opportunities to help position the firm as a thought leader.
LEED accreditation or Green Associate preferred.
10 years of healthcare experience, with at least 5 years in a management/leadership role.
Licensed Architect with current registration in your region required, if licensure is offered in your region.
Travel will be required.
