The Airports Sector Director will lead the development and expansion of the airports sector across the UK, Ireland and major European projects, working from anywhere in the UK or Ireland. The role focuses on refining the go‑to‑market strategy, securing and delivering projects, and collaborating with the senior leadership team in the UK/Ireland and Egis’ Global Aviation market sector to define a long‑term vision for sustainable growth.
- Refine and lead the UK & Ireland airport sector strategy, accelerating pipeline and relationships.
- Evolve the go‑to‑market proposition with business and service line leaders.
- Strengthen market position through thought leadership, industry engagement and strategic partnerships.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across the UK, Ireland and selected European countries.
- Lead bids and proposals, ensuring technical and commercial robustness.
- Build trusted advisor relationships with key stakeholders and represent Egis at industry events.
- Coordinate with Business Development and Tender Unit to nurture leads into active opportunities.
- Lead operational delivery of client projects and exceed quality, financial and client‑satisfaction targets.
- Attract, retain and mentor top‑tier talent, fostering a high‑performance culture.
- Oversee recruitment, talent acquisition and mobility in collaboration with HR and corporate services.
- Champion service innovation, monitor market trends and promote digital tools.
- Ensure rigorous governance, risk management and quality assurance across engagements.

The ideal candidate brings deep sector knowledge and proven experience in airport engineering, either from the engineering industry or the client side, along with strong commercial insight and an established network of senior industry relationships in the UK. Experience with design or design‑and‑build airfield projects and a track record of winning new business in the UK airports market are highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience in airport and airfield engineering with a strong industry network.
- Deep knowledge of airport consultancy, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement and project management.
- Proven ability to build and scale an engineering business, with strong commercial acumen.
- Inclusive leadership style, proficient in tender analysis, bid writing and senior stakeholder communication.
- Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience in airports engineering or consulting.
