The Project Engineer role can be filled at levels 1, 2, or 3 based on experience and is responsible for managing engineering and detailed design activities throughout the project life cycle within NiSource's Generation Electric Projects & Construction organization.
Key duties include applying engineering project management from initiation through design, constructability reviews, change control, testing, and transition, while ensuring product scope is translated into an effective work breakdown structure and validated against industry standards.
The incumbent promotes a safe work environment, leads multidisciplinary teams, coordinates with internal and external stakeholders, and mentors junior engineers, using PMI/PMBOK standards to align execution with corporate guidelines.
Required qualifications are a BS in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET‑accredited program, at least 10 years of utility‑based engineering experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency in project management principles; preferred credentials include an Electrical Engineering background, transmission/distribution experience, and PMP certification.
