Purchasing Director - Construction

Description

A growing construction firm in the MetroWest region is seeking a Purchasing Director to lead the company's procurement strategy. This leader will oversee sourcing, vendor management, contract negotiations and procurement operations to support construction projects and organizational goals. This role will report directly to C-Suite leadership

• Establish and enforce purchasing policies, procedures and best practices
• Lead and develop members of the purchasing team
• Manage vendor relationships and monitor performance, quality and delivery timelines
• Partner with project management and operations to forecast needs and plan material delivery
• Oversee purchasing budgets and identify cost savings opportunities
• Develop and execute procurement strategy to support project schedules and company objectives
• Lead contract and pricing negotiations to secure favorable terms
• Prepare procurement reports and updates for executive leadership
• Source, evaluate and select suppliers for materials, equipment and subcontracted services

Requirements

• Familiarity with procurement systems, ERP tools and data analysis
• Leadership experience with the ability to guide and develop a team
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
• Strong track record with sourcing, vendor negotiation and contract management
• 10 or more years of procurement or purchasing experience, ideally in construction
• Understanding of construction materials, equipment and supply chain dynamics
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, construction management or related field
