The Area Director, Business Development drives market strategy and execution through an integrated planning process, while also advancing solid waste infrastructure via acquisitions, divestitures, privatizations, and organic growth. This role collaborates with market, area, and corporate functions to position Republic Services for market success.
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing market strategies to improve financial performance, coordinating with sales and revenue management, and ensuring action‑plan execution with operational leaders. The director leads financial and capital analysis for business‑development transactions, manages due‑diligence, negotiations, closing, and integration of acquisitions and divestitures, and oversees real‑estate deals. Additionally, the role evaluates and manages new solid‑waste infrastructure projects—such as recycling centers, transfer stations, and landfills—leading cross‑functional teams, setting milestones, and conducting annual landfill reviews and privatizations, with travel comprising at least 30% of the time.
Qualifications require environmental industry experience, the ability to manage budgets exceeding $5 million, and leadership of professional functional teams. Candidates must interpret financial reports, assess operating data, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Minimum requirements are five years of experience in strategy, project, infrastructure, or real‑estate development, preferably within a capital‑intensive sector.
The position offers a salary range of $185,200 to $254,650, adjusted for locality, plus an annual incentive (MIP) targeting a 35% reward. A comprehensive benefits package is available, and the employee may participate in various company programs.
