Key responsibilities include developing computer models to investigate flooding and environmental problems, building, verifying and analysing hydraulic sewer model outputs, handling and analysing data, and using GIS software such as MapInfo and ArcGIS. You will also produce reports and other project deliverables, plan and supervise surveys, and work collaboratively with other hydraulic modellers to solve environmental problems for clients.
The ideal candidate has an interest in water environment and sustainability, is a proactive self‑starter, and possesses good written and verbal communication skills. Required technical skills include proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and a BSc/BEng/MEng degree in Engineering, Geography, GIS or a related science; HNC/HND qualifications are also considered. Opportunities to work towards professional qualifications are supported for the right candidate.
The role may require security clearance; the vetting process is conducted by UKSV and may require proof of five years UK residency. Candidates should not disclose any existing security clearance in their application.
