The EPC Construction Manager oversees the safe, on‑time, and on‑budget execution of utility‑scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects under Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts. Acting as the primary field representative of the EPC contractor, this role coordinates on‑site construction activities, subcontractors, and field teams while ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, safety regulations, and contractual requirements. The manager works closely with engineering, procurement, project management, quality, and safety departments.
Key responsibilities include leading all construction phases from mobilization through mechanical completion and turnover, managing daily field operations, schedule and cost control, and overseeing subcontractor performance. The manager champions a strong safety culture, drives quality assurance, coordinates inspections and testing, and maintains clear communication with owners, inspectors, utilities, authorities having jurisdiction, and other stakeholders. Additional duties involve supporting change management, material logistics, and commissioning activities to ensure successful project closeout.
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) and possess at least seven years of construction management experience, including three years on utility‑scale solar EPC projects. Required skills include deep knowledge of solar PV construction methods, strong subcontractor management, proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Procore), and the ability to travel extensively and work full‑time on site. Preferred qualifications are professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, OSHA 30, or NABCEP and experience with high‑voltage systems, substations, interconnection, and commissioning.
