Marine Structural Engineer – Senior Level

Description

The position’s duties include establishing design standards, providing technical oversight, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, conducting structural analysis and design, and delivering comprehensive project documentation. Additionally, the engineer will mentor junior staff, perform quality assurance reviews, and interact directly with clients to ensure satisfaction and project success.

• Develop and maintain marine structure design standards using concrete, steel, and timber.
• Lead junior staff and ensure best‑practice compliance.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams for integrated structural design.
• Perform structural analysis, QA/QC reviews, and prepare deliverables (plans, calculations, specifications, reports).
• Mentor and train junior engineers.
• Review deliverables as Senior Technical Reviewer for accuracy and compliance.
• Interact with clients to provide expertise, address concerns, and strengthen relationships.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred) and possess a Professional Engineer license, with the ability to obtain a New York State license within six months. A minimum of 15 years of structural engineering experience focused on marine or waterfront projects is required, along with proficiency in analysis software such as SAP2000 or STAAD.Pro. Preferred qualifications include a Licensed Structural Engineer designation, ACOPNE certification, and compliance with background check and E‑Verify requirements.

• Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred) and PE license; obtain NY license within 6 months.
• Licensed Structural Engineer designation preferred.
• ≥15 years structural engineering experience on marine/waterfront projects.
• ACOPNE Port Engineering certification preferred.
• Proficient in SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, or similar analysis software.
• Pass pre‑employment background check per NIST 800‑171.
• Eligible for E‑Verify employment verification.

Benefits

The role offers a salary range of $154,000 to $188,000, based on experience, education, and professional registration, and is based in the New York City market. Work is primarily office‑based with occasional site visits that may involve light travel and navigating unpaved terrain while carrying equipment.
