In this role you will coordinate internal AECOM project teams, ensure all management information is reviewed and signed off, and maintain strong relationships with clients and cross‑functional partners. You will be the primary interface for new and existing clients, overseeing design, tendering, contract formulation and negotiations while driving business development and cross‑selling opportunities. Leadership includes mentoring project managers, managing finances and resources for a portfolio of projects, and supporting professional chartership.
The Senior Project Manager role is based in Cambridge or Norfolk and requires proven consultancy or client‑organisation experience in higher education, healthcare or data centre construction. You will lead medium to large‑scale projects with minimal supervision while also providing line‑management support to junior project staff. The position spans the full project lifecycle—from business case development through design, procurement, delivery, commissioning and defects management—working as part of an integrated team led by a Director.
The successful candidate holds a qualified degree in Project Management, Construction, Engineering or Quantity Surveying and chartered status with RICS, CIOB, RIBA, ICE or an equivalent body. Experience in a consultancy environment and an excellent understanding of construction parties, contracts and the CDM Regulations 2015 are essential, with particular advantage given to experience in life‑science, tertiary education or defence sectors.
