The Facilities Manager/Cleaning leads with visibility, accountability, and operational discipline—balancing hands-on floor presence with administrative and financial oversight in a complex, high-traffic facility where service quality is immediately visible to the traveling public.

This includes following safety protocols, maintaining environmental responsibility, and upholding quality standards in all tasks. Employees are expected to actively participate in HSEQ training and report any potential hazards or compliance concerns.
The Facilities Manager/Cleaning is a key leadership role responsible for the day-to-day delivery of janitorial services in an airport. This role oversees a large, unionized workforce operating across a 24/7 public airport environment and ensures all services meet contractual requirements, safety standards, and client expectations.
- Reinforce safety protocols, airport regulations, and ISS standards across all shifts.
- Conduct performance reviews and coach direct reports.
- Be available to support operations during nights, weekends, holidays, and peak travel periods as needed.
- Engage in a wide network of Account Excellence Managers to ensure steady flow of best practice sharing
- Lead janitorial operations for a 24/7 airport environment, overseeing 80+ employees across three shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd).
- Manage specialty subcontractors, ensuring scope alignment, safety compliance, quality execution, and accurate documentation.
- Walking/Inspecting the site 50% of the time
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with airport management, client representatives, and internal ISS leadership.
- Directly manage floor care specialists, including restorative floor work, carpet care, and specialty maintenance programs. Evaluates performance of personnel and inspects assigned areas to ensure proper work performance. This requires hands-on support and ability to perform work when necessary. This may include, but is not limited to dust mopping, sweeping, stripping/refinishing, carpet scrubbing, servicing restrooms, window washing, etc
- Prepare monthly billing reports and operational documentation.
- Serve as final authority for schedules, payroll approvals, monthly charges, inventory ordering, and service execution decisions.
- Develop own skill base in line with agreed appraisal, taking responsibility for increased performance, and ensuring continued self-improvement
- Manage full hiring lifecycle for janitorial roles (union and non-union) and serve as initial point of contact for HR-related matters.
- Serve as primary liaison with union representatives; manage grievances and labor issues in compliance with collective bargaining agreements and applicable regulations.
- Conducts periodic internal review to ensure that compliance procedures are followed
- Ensure a consistently high standard of cleanliness across interior and exterior airport spaces, covering approximately 1 million square feet.
- Maintain visible leadership presence through regular site walks, inspections, and engagement with frontline teams.
- Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to identify and roll-out project support
- Manage daily and weekly staffing schedules, payroll inputs, and coverage adjustments.
- Oversee inventory management, equipment maintenance, and supply usage.
- Identify and leverage opportunities for improvement and best practice across the account working from the global/local concept toolbox
- Delivery on contract promises, increased effectiveness and/or efficiency of delivered services through deployment of ISS standards and concepts leveraging innovation and best practice opportunities’

- Conduct quality inspections, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
