Technicians install, splice, terminate, and maintain power cables, vaults, and related equipment while performing troubleshooting and fault location on distribution networks. They operate specialized tools like cable pulling rigs, fault locators, splicing kits, and test instruments, and conduct high‑voltage switching and grounding in line with safety standards. Reading construction drawings, single‑line diagrams, and underground cable maps is essential, as is ensuring compliance with utility codes and company policies. Collaboration with engineers, supervisors, and crew members helps complete projects efficiently, and technicians respond to emergency outages to restore service promptly.
Candidates must hold a Journeyperson Powerline Technician certification and have proven experience with power distribution systems. A strong grasp of electrical theory, construction practices, and safety procedures is required, along with proficiency in locating, splicing, and testing equipment. A valid driver’s license and the ability to work on‑call for emergency situations are also necessary.
Applicants must have legal authorization to work in Canada without restrictions. Valard provides accommodation for applicants with disabilities upon request during the recruitment process.
Valard Construction offers a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that includes a full range of employee benefits designed to support health and wellbeing. The package ensures employees have the tools needed to manage, maintain, and improve their personal and professional lives.
