Key duties include supporting customers via a rota system, delivering the Drinking Water Safety Planning approach, and carrying out thorough water‑quality investigations. The scientist will collate and report information from internal and external sources during incidents, review water‑quality standards, and drive continuous improvement of risk assessments across the network. They will also lead out‑of‑hours standby support and act as the main contact for operational teams on water‑quality risk matters.
Candidates should hold a degree or postgraduate qualification in a relevant scientific discipline, or possess equivalent experience. The role requires strong analytical skills to evaluate data and take tactical action, excellent interpersonal abilities to build rapport with operational colleagues, and the influence to drive positive water‑quality decisions.
