Lead HVAC system design and coordination for commercial/industrial projects.
-Prepare and review drawings, specifications, and technical documentation in accordance with project and code requirements. -Participate in internal design reviews, QA/QC processes, and project closeout documentation. -Conduct field surveys, evaluate existing mechanical systems, and develop retrofit or upgrade solutions. -Lead and perform HVAC system design, including load calculations, equipment selection, and ductwork/hydronic system layout. -Support project development from concept design through construction administration, including responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals. -Stay current with applicable building codes and industry standards. -Mentor junior engineers and designers, providing technical guidance and quality assurance reviews. -Collaborate with clients and project managers to define scope, schedule, and budgets for mechanical portions of projects. -Coordinate designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and plumbing disciplines to ensure fully integrated building systems.
-5-10 years of progressively responsible experience in HVAC design within a consulting engineering or design-build environment. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to lead technical discussions with clients and project teams. -Familiarity with energy modeling, sustainability, and LEED/ASHRAE 90.1 compliance (preferred). -Basic understanding of building automation systems and controls integration. -Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. -Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment. -Field experience with commissioning or construction administration. -Experience with healthcare, laboratory, higher education, or mission-critical facilities. -Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 12 months (preferred). -Strong understanding of HVAC system types (VAV, DOAS, hydronic systems, chilled/hot water plants, VRF, etc.). -Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and HVAC load calculation software (e.g., Carrier HAP, Trane TRACE). -Knowledge of specification writing and Division 23 standards.
