CEI Inspector (Construction Inspector I)

Description

• Participate in the development of job safety practices and observe general job safety practices.
• Perform field inspection of contractors’ operations to confirm compliance with contract documents; prepare inspection reports.
• Testing: Oversee and occasionally conduct necessary field tests.
• Prepare Daily Reports and submit to Senior Inspector on a weekly basis.
• Reads contract plans, specifications, shop drawings, and regulatory agency manuals.
• Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters.
• Project Management: Coordinate construction progress to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope.
• Complete Annual Individual Training Program.
• Monitor on-site construction activities; prepare daily and weekly reports on work accomplished by contractor and track quantities of completed work.
• Prepare sketches and assemble data for Senior Inspector or Project Administrator to utilize when making changes to the project.
• Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target.
• Ensure timely completion of time sheets and expense reports.
• Establish strong working relationships with clients, contractors, and design engineers.
• Inspection of and documentation of contractor’s quality of work.
• Required for inspection of all drilled shafts including miscellaneous structures such as sign, lighting, and traffic signal structure foundations
• Reviews project activities with contractor's field supervision to resolve disputes and other project issues.
• Performs density and asphalt tests; samples and verifies certification of materials.
• Public Impact: Manage activities to ensure minimal disruption to the public.
• Maintain detailed accurate records of daily operations and significant events.
• Tracks quality assurance progress.
• Inspection & Documentation: Monitor daily work and maintain detailed records of construction activities.
• Performing work under the general supervision of the Senior Inspector or Project Administrator/ Project Engineer.
• Monitor and inspect the Work Zone Traffic Control (in accordance with the client’s requirements)
• Material testing and documentation of acceptance. Coordinate verification testing.
• Comply with all PRIME AE policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
• Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors FDOT Intermediate Temporary Traffic Control
• Knowledge of FDOT specification and standards.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
• Ability to work weekends, nights, and swing shifts if required on assigned projects.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the full suite of Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat.
• CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
• Possess current material testing certifications applicable for earthwork, asphalt, concrete, pile driving, drilled shafts, etc.
• Two (2) years of experience in construction inspection,
• CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
• FDOT Intermediate MOT
• Read and interpret construction contract language.
• The ability to earn the required qualifications and certifications within one year. (Note: Engineer Intern classification requires an EI certificate.)
• One (1) year of Ability to earn additional required qualifications within one year, as required by job assignments to include:
• Ability to effectively lead a team of inspectors.
• Good understanding of construction specifications and plans, with ability to read, interpret and explain construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.
• CTQP Pile Driving Inspection
• CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing), and have excellent analytical, technical and communication skills.
