Operational Performance Engineering Lead

Description

• Oversee operational performance engineering for Origis and third‑party assets.
• Lead and improve team effectiveness across asset management, field operations, and the Remote Operations Center.
• Analyze uncertainty in existing PV and BESS performance models.
• Create improved models and tools to reduce underperformance and streamline field notifications.
• Provide operational feedback to design, engineering, and finance teams.
• Use performance data to influence supply‑chain and equipment selections.
• Own daily, weekly, and monthly plant performance reporting.
• Define expected energy and as‑built production modeling.
• Translate commercial and operational goals into KPI‑aligned initiatives.
• Develop and implement technical processes and procedures organization‑wide.
• Support technical investment decisions that boost operational efficiency.
• Document processes and drive continuous improvement.
• Serve as primary point of contact for the Asset Management Technical Platform (Power Factors Unity).
• Management of technical contract scopes and third‑party partnerships.
• Extensive work with O&M subcontractors to resolve system outages.

Requirements

The role is based in Austin, TX and may require up to 20 % travel as needed. It is classified as a Manager level position with no direct reports.

• Bachelor’s (Master’s preferred) in Electrical Engineering or Mathematical Science.
• 5+ years performance engineering/analytics on 20 MW+ PV plants.
• Data analysis experience to improve fleet performance and reliability.
• Experience identifying and resolving product failures and directing performance projects with technicians.
• Knowledge of monitoring protocols, substation equipment, utility meters, BESS, inverters, SCADA, and MET stations.
• Ability to interpret asset design documents and perform PV performance modeling.
• Experience onboarding and QA of third‑party software providers; familiarity with Power Factors Unity a plus.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Proven technical leadership and team‑building experience in the energy sector.
• Strong background in engineering, electrical design, or project engineering within renewable energy.
• Success delivering performance and engineering functions for operating PV and BESS projects.
• Experience defining team KPIs, developing metrics, and tracking improvements to meet corporate goals.
• Deep knowledge of industry‑standard PV modeling software (e.g., PVsyst, PlantPredict).
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and delivering reports/presentations via Teams or in person.
