Plant Operator - Arboriculture

Description

The successful candidate will deliver safe, high‑quality tree works across highways, railways, utilities and construction sites, supporting projects to meet deadlines and maintaining clean, compliant worksites while adhering to health, safety and environmental regulations.

• Perform safe, efficient tree works in line with industry and project standards
• Operate and maintain arboricultural and plant machinery (training provided)
• Support team to complete projects safely, on time, and to high quality
• Maintain clean, professional, and compliant worksites, vehicles, and tools
• Follow health, safety, and environmental regulations (LOLER, COSHH, RAMS)
• Report hazards or near misses promptly and promote a positive safety culture
• Communicate clearly with team and managers to keep work flowing smoothly
• Hold NPTC Units 201 & 202 (chainsaw maintenance and cross‑cutting)

Requirements

Ground Control is seeking an experienced Arboricultural Operative for its Rail & Infrastructure team, based in the East Midlands with national coverage. The permanent, full‑time role offers a competitive base salary, overtime potential and a company vehicle, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

• Hold NPTC Unit 203 (felling and processing trees up to 380 mm)
• Hold NPTC FMO qualification (crane‑fed chipper and base unit)
• Hold First Aid and Forestry qualifications
• Possess a full UK driving licence
• Exhibit strong teamwork, communication and problem‑solving skills
• Desirable: CPCS Red Card for excavator operation
• Desirable: NPORS/CPCS Slinger Signaller or Banksman certification
• Desirable: PTS (Personal Track Safety) and Highways Passport
• Desirable: NPTC Units 206 & 306 (rope & harness, aerial tree rescue)
• Desirable: NPTC Units 308 & 307 (aerial cutting and pruning)
• Desirable: Experience using excavators in arboriculture
