The Foreman supervisor role performs a variety of manual duties across multiple projects, working without close direction and often serving as a stepping stone to skill development. The position requires handling construction materials, tools, and supplies while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Key responsibilities include lifting, carrying, and positioning materials; digging, spreading, and leveling soil, sand, and gravel; assisting equipment operators with grade verification; mixing, pouring, and spreading concrete, asphalt, and gravel; directing laborers in concrete work; erecting shoring and bracing; installing pipe and erosion control; and using power and air tools.
Candidates must be able to move around job sites, climb ladders, operate heavy equipment, and lift up to 50 lb, while adhering to all safety policies and reporting hazards. Leadership is demonstrated through example and knowledge sharing. The role requires less than a high‑school diploma, with three or more years of construction experience preferred, and involves heavy physical activity and manual dexterity.
