The role leads the environmental technical team for the programme, ensuring that designs and technical deliverables are provided on time and in coordination with engineering disciplines. Responsibilities include EMR compliance, managing variations of environmental consents, and overseeing the environmental aspects of contractual handover.
Key duties involve working with planners and engineers to embed environmental deliverable timelines into project schedules, handling commercial and contractual communications (TQs, EWs, EIs, CEs), adhering to reporting schedules, and guaranteeing compliance with legislation, industry best practice and HS2 technical requirements. The position also supports BS EN ISO 14001 certification, collaborates with clients, designers, community and stakeholder managers, and promotes best practices in environmental management.
Candidates must hold a degree in engineering, environment or a related field, with chartered status (e.g., CEnv, MCIEEM) preferred. They should possess extensive knowledge across ecology, landscaping, hydrogeology, EMR compliance and statutory consenting, strong stakeholder‑management and negotiation skills, and proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams while managing commercial and contractual aspects of projects.
