Continuous Improvement Engineer

Description

The Continuous Improvement Engineer will work at the Lockeford branch reporting to the Plant Manager. This intermediate‑level individual contributor will partner with operational leaders, supervisors, and various departments to develop and implement continuous improvement principles for a precast concrete manufacturing plant. The role focuses on creating sustainable processes that support long‑term consistency and growth.

The primary responsibility is to develop and execute continuous improvement activities across the operation, supporting multiple teams through events, analyses, and feedback on key metrics, projects, budgets, and timelines. The engineer will lead initiatives that drive efficiency, cost reduction, and performance enhancements while fostering a collaborative team environment.

• Review department productivity and partner with operations to develop action plans for performance improvement
• Direct or conduct studies to determine optimal operation sequences or workflow
• Coordinate and drive a structured process to close follow‑up actions from assessments and audits
• Plan and facilitate cost‑savings objectives through Lean and Six Sigma projects and initiatives
• Collect and analyze production data, develop and track plant‑level KPIs for improvement opportunities
• Create and maintain a continuous improvement suggestion system with daily use and rapid implementation of actionable items
• Execute visible continuous improvement ideas using display boards to meet KPI goals

Requirements

Ideal candidates are enthusiastic, motivated, and thrive in fast‑paced environments. A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is required, along with experience in Lean and Six Sigma projects. Strong verbal and written communication, database administration skills, and a safety‑first mindset are essential, as is the ability to work autonomously in a rapidly evolving setting.

• Minimum 3‑5 years of process improvement experience, preferably in manufacturing, with a track record of bringing new products to market
• Superior analytical and problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
• Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills; willingness to work in a team environment
• Experience leading CI events using kaizen tools such as value‑stream maps, fishbone diagrams, PDCA, and SMED
• Lean Six Sigma certification or ability to obtain Green Belt certification within six months
• Ability to work with high autonomy in a rapidly changing and evolving environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field, or equivalent education and experience

Benefits

The position is located in Lockeford, CA and is a full‑time engineering role requiring a 4‑year degree. Salary ranges from $72,000 to $85,000 annually with negligible travel and day shift hours. The role is salaried, exempt, and eligible for an annual short‑term bonus.
