Maintain safe working distances and exclusion zones during operations
Carry out pre-start and post-operation equipment checks, reporting any faults immediately
Identify and report any defects, irregularities, or obstructions (e.g., high reinforcement, debris, incorrect pile spacing)
Ensure broken piles meet required finish, level, and tolerance specifications
Carry out pile cropping and trimming operations using hydraulic pile breakers, hand-held tools, and other approved methods
Assist with other groundwork or concrete activities as required (when pile breaking operations are complete or paused)
Adhere to all company and site-specific Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures
Set up, operate, and maintain hydraulic pile breaker equipment (excavator-mounted or modular types)
Inspect piles prior to breaking, confirming dimensions, rebar cage positions, and cut-off levels with the Site Engineer or Supervisor
Work with the Machine Driver and Banksman to ensure safe lifting and handling of the equipment

Strong awareness of Health & Safety, particularly regarding vibration, noise, dust, and exclusion zones
Good communication skills with site engineers and foremen
Valid CPCS or NPORS card - Excavator Operator, Lifting Ops, or related
Ability to work efficiently within a team and follow instructions from site supervision
Good understanding of hydraulic pile cropping systems and associated equipment
Manual handling, confined space, or lifting-related training
SSSTS or equivalent supervisor qualification
Understanding of reading drawings and pile schedules
Positive attitude and teamwork mindset
Knowledge of safe working practices when operating around reinforced concrete piles and live site areas
Proven experience as a Pile Breaker / Pile Cropping Operative in a civils or groundworks environment
Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
Able to work to high standards with attention to detail
Experience working on large RC frame or infrastructure projects
