Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Description

• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and project-specific requirements.
• Review geotechnical site investigation reports and interpret soil and rock conditions.
• Collaborate with in-house structural engineers, field operations teams, estimators, and external subconsultants.
• Review drawings, specifications, and technical documents related to SOE and foundation systems.
• Lead the design and analysis of excavation support systems, including slurry walls, secant pile walls, sheeting, soldier pile and lagging, underpinning, and bracing systems.
• Prepare temporary SOE design submittals with PE stamp.

Requirements

• Proficiency with geotechnical and structural analysis software (e.g., PLAXIS, LPILE, Shoring Suite, or similar).
• Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in civil engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York or New Jersey (required).
• Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future***
• Experience with projects adjacent to subways, railroads, or other sensitive structures.
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical design methods, soil–structure interaction, and construction practices in urban environments.
• Familiarity with MTA, NYCDOT, and NJDOT standards and procedures.
• 10–15 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering with an emphasis on underground excavation and SOE design.
• Excellent communication, technical writing, and coordination skills.
