What you’ll do: Detail simple projects with a mentor’s supervision while providing concise, accurate, and complete descriptions of reinforcing steel and related products for fabrication, delivery, installation, and invoicing in the most efficient manner possible. You’ll learn how to cultivate a customer service relationship while maximizing profitability for Nucor Rebar Fabrication.
- Develop working knowledge of AutoCAD and the basics of Nucor Rebar Fabrication’s detailing system (RebarCAD)
- Detail simple projects with little or no assistance (foundations, walls, footings, piers, slabs, stairs, retaining walls, etc.)
- Submit placing drawings for approval and ensure conformance to branch quality assurance and placer/shop requirements
- Process change orders to maximize all possible returns for the branch
- Maintain all deliveries for fabrication
- Communicate with customer, placer, and architect/engineer on project questions; submit Requests for Information (RFI) as required
- Work with Detailing Manager to pre‑order specialty items and maintain construction schedules
- Follow projects from estimate through detailing, fabrication, and installation at the job site
- Assist in resolving construction conflicts/disputes under management direction, providing time‑ and cost‑effective solutions
- Participate in weekly meetings to discuss safety, innovative ideas, workloads, availability, and weekly issues

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
- Develop basic knowledge of reinforcing bar industry including reference material (CRSI and ACI)
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
- Vocational certificate (or enrollment) in CAD design/drafting or related degree from an accredited institution
- At least six months experience using AutoCAD and Windows‑based software
- Able to read architectural/engineering blueprints
- Two‑year technical degree from an accredited school or college (preferred)
- Construction and concrete‑related knowledge and experience (preferred)
- Basic knowledge of civil technology (preferred)
- Ability to work as a team member on projects with problem‑solving aptitude (preferred)
- Organized and detail‑oriented (preferred)
- Able to manage time effectively and prioritize responsibilities (preferred)
- Effective communication skills (preferred)
