* Operate independently within broad objectives and budget guidelines, consulting your manager for guidance on critical or high-impact projects, particularly those involving distribution grounding strategies.
* Plan and execute field trials, evaluate new equipment, and work collaboratively with field crews and vendors to ensure equipment—including grounding components—meets system requirements and receives approval for use.

* Foster strong professional relationships with internal and external colleagues and clients to set priorities, assess work impacts, and address concerns, especially those involving grounding standards and system reliability.
* Provide technical expertise and guidance to Distribution Engineering and Distribution Design teams, particularly in the area of grounding practices.
* Work closely with stakeholders to build consensus and drive innovation, creating engineering solutions that prioritize safety, environmental protection, cost-effectiveness, and the needs of both employees and the public, with a special focus on grounding methodologies.
* Investigate, analyze, and resolve a wide range of complex and unique engineering issues, including those related to distribution system grounding and safety.
* Develop, revise, and maintain construction and design standards for the BC Hydro Distribution System, with an emphasis on establishing robust distribution grounding installation standards and methodologies.

* Are registered, or meet the eligibility requirements for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
* Bring at least 8 years of hands-on engineering experience in utility distribution or a closely related field, including significant involvement in establishing or refining distribution grounding installation standards and methodologies. * Demonstrate expertise in both overhead and underground electric utility distribution systems operating at voltages up to 35kV, with a particular emphasis on grounding practices and standards.
* Hold a degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized or accredited university. Candidates with degrees in other engineering disciplines will also be considered if they possess substantial relevant experience for this position, especially in the development of distribution grounding installation standards and methodologies.
* Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered for a lower level role (Intermediate Engineer 2). Before you apply, please confirm you meet BC Hydro’s time in role requirement. M&P employees must meet the time in role requirement specified in their most recent offer letter. For MoveUP and IBEW employees, the current time in role as outlined in the Collective Agreements will apply.
* A condition of employment for this job is that you maintain a Driver's License: Class 5 In Good Standing.

Annual Salary: $ 107,000.00 - 135,300.00
