Serve as health and safety resource for drivers, employees and management in a continuous effort to improve safety performance and safe working environment.
Collaborating with Director of Safety to present quarterly safety training and company-wide quarterly safety meetings for drivers and employees.
Conduct initial and yearly OSHA training (primarily shop and yard) in accordance with OSHA regulations, as well as training on DOT regulations and company procedures
Perform road tests with drivers as part of orientation when needed.
Inspecting load securement, load documentation, measurements, and permits as time permits.
Communicate and collaborate with organization leaders to identify training solutions that address negative performance trends.
Conduct remedial driver safety training based upon individual driver performance, and counsel drivers on performance improvement measures (including load securement, load placement, safe driving techniques, trailer functions, and appropriate speeds).
Respond to and investigate safety incidents including accidents, spills and injuries. Complete safety reports including root cause analysis.
On call for after-hours emergency response. (currently 7 days every fifth week)
Maintain accurate records of incidents and assist with reporting to regulatory agencies as required.
Participate in assigned locations safety and operational meetings.

Minimum of (5) years of experience as a health and safety professional within the transportation industry.
Bachelor’s degree or (5) years of safety leader experience in lieu of degree requirement.
Working knowledge of hazardous materials and hazardous waste incident mitigation and response.
Working knowledge of DOT and OSHA Regulations
Excellent communication, interpersonal, organization and presentation skills required.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
Require travel to other terminals as needed for driver training, shop training, safety meetings etc.
Serve clients from pipelines, terminals, utilities, railroads, paper mills, steel plants, to government agencies.
