Assistant Manager - Piping Checker

Description

• Aftersales services, technical assistance, inspections from the rehabilitation to the modernization of all types and brands of boilers;
• Ensuring consistency across drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and specifications within the team.
• Suggesting corrective actions to designers and engineers, develop templates for future use.
• Provide the engineers with information needed for the project progress and timelines for the deliverables
• Record, maintain and analyse the drawing and documentation Quality and quantity KPIs.
• Preparing checking reports, redlining drawings, and maintaining revision records.
• Verify 2D drawings with respect to Pipe stress analysis report
• Check the drawings to ensure mechanical interfaces between the different equipment,
• Supply of a fast and reliable service to the project teams to respect the document and equipment contractual delivery schedules of projects.
• Keep his competencies of the team updated by regular feedback and training sessions
• Issue the manufacturing documentation (mainly isometric drawings) in compliance with internal standards and contractual requirements,
• Check the completeness of the inputs received from the Technical Project Manager and basic engineering department
• The manufacture and maintenance of boiler parts, in particular pressure parts in its specialized workshop based in Mexico.
• Spotting dimensional errors, missing information, or clashes.
• Interact and coordinate with the Piping Designers to maintain the project time lines
• Cross-check 2D drawings against 3D models.
• Handling multiple drawings under tight project deadlines.
• Identifying design discrepancies early to avoid costly rework.
• Attend regular team meetings
• Check constructability and maintainability in plant design.

Requirements

• Proficient in English, particularly in reading and writing
• Thermal solar receivers (Concentrated Solar Power), that capture the sun’s rays, reflected by mirrors on the ground, and enable to produce energy 24/7 thanks to molten salts;
• Ability to verify compliance with safety and quality requirements.
• Understanding of professional environment in the Energy field
• 3D CAD knowledge (SmartPlant, Inventor, Navisworks) in piping detailing
• Multi tasking
• Plus…. 3-5 years experience in Checker role
• Awareness of constructability and maintainability in plant design.
• Be proactive in the continuous improvement and REX (return on experience) processes.
• Respect of the Design Process as defined in the QMS of the business line,
• Problem solving
• 2D CAD knowledge (AutoCad, SmartSketch) with Piping detailing experience
• Understanding of isometrics, GA (General Arrangement) drawings, and 3D piping models, PIDs, PFDs
• Diploma or Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering OR ITI with higher years of experience in Piping detailing and Checker role
• Familiarity with pipe supports, stress considerations, and material specifications.
• 10 years relevant experience in Piping Designer position.
• Knowledge of mechanical properties of steel elements (ASME and EN)
• Technical conformity of drawings to internal standards and contractual requirements,
• Industrial boilers destined for sectors such as chemicals, petrochemicals, biomass, incineration, …
• Mechanical engineering basics (fluid flow, pressure, stress).
• Reading of technical documentation
• Good knowledge of usual codes / norms and good practice rules (ASME and EN)
• Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel)
• Heat Recovery steam generators, particularly suited to operate in cycles with frequent start-ups and shut-downs. They can be installed behind gas turbines of all power ratings, brands and burning all types of fuel;
• Ability to cross-check 2D drawings against 3D models.
• Explaining corrections clearly and constructively.
• Mechanical drawings (cutting, machining, welding, assembly…)
