The Safety Facilitator works closely with line management to communicate guidelines and established procedures, while recognizing that variances may arise. They present clear facts to experienced Safety Support Team members for evaluation of unusual situations and build strong relationships with diverse personalities on the Operations Team to support success. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with the WMS department to write project permits.
The Safety Facilitator has no direct reports and is expected to follow all company directives and safety procedures.
- Observe jobsite conditions and ensure safe work environments.
- Take immediate corrective action for unsafe conditions, including isolation, work stoppage, and reporting.
- Monitor workforce behavior, correct unsafe acts promptly, and prevent incidents.
- Report unsafe observations verbally and in writing to management.
- Assist workforce in planning work with safety considerations.
- Support supervisors in safety briefs, pre‑task planning, and Job Hazard Analysis development.
- Respond to incidents and accidents, provide emergency aid, and verify correction of hazards.
- Issue and inspect personal protective equipment (PPE) for compliance.
- Participate in investigations of safety incidents and accidents.
- Interpret complex safety policies, client documents, and government regulations.
- Apply problem‑solving and critical‑thinking to identify and mitigate safety risks.

Candidates must hold a high school diploma, possess at least five years of construction safety experience, and be capable of working at heights exceeding 300 ft. Required tools, reliable transportation, a valid OSHA 500 certification, and experience instructing OSHA 10‑ and 30‑hour courses are also mandatory.
The position demands extensive physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting up to 50 lb, and frequent work at heights using ladders, man lifts, or fall‑protection systems. Workers must perform in various weather conditions and wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, vests, gloves, and safety boots.

- Possess at least five years of experience as a safety facilitator or supervisory field role.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of OSHA requirements and ability to apply them to construction work.
- Exhibit strong leadership, conflict‑resolution, and influencing skills.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Use basic computer applications such as word processing and spreadsheets.
- Work safely at heights and possess reliable transportation.
- Preferred: current or former Zachry employee with experience at Zachry Industrial, Inc.
- Preferred: background as craft worker or craft supervisor on industrial construction projects.
- Preferred: certifications such as OSHA 10, OSHA 30, confined‑space competent person, excavation competent person, NCCER Field Safety, NCCER Safety Technology, or BCSP.
