Collaborate with multidisciplinary and/or cross-functional teams that may include other geoscientists, geologists, engineers, and land surveyors to complete projects.
Receive general instruction on key objectives for execution. Receive direction as needed, and especially complex assignments, modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria. Work is completed using advanced techniques and principles and is reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound professional judgement. May review work produced by junior staff for quality assurance.
Assist with the marketing of the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships.
Perform geologic field reconnaissance and mapping for the identification of geologic hazards using field-based data collection applications.
Safely perform work in the office and field; fieldwork may occur out-of-town in all seasonal weather conditions, while using equipment and operating vehicles on behalf of the company.
Conduct subsurface field exploration tasks including observation and documentation of test pit explorations, dynamic cone penetrometer testing, and support of drilling activities for the installation of geotechnical instrumentation.
Collect a range of field data, including from groundwater and slope monitoring instrumentation; interpret subsurface conditions, and prepare exploration field notes.
May apply principles of rock and soil mechanics for engineering projects.
Perform data compilation, prepare borehole (and other) logs, conduct GIS data analysis and management, research site geology, and other related duties to support project teams and report preparation.
Work with project teams on geohazard assessment and geotechnical/geological engineering projects that involve field activities, site observations, data evaluation, and desktop assessments.
May apply all branches of geologic knowledge to conditions that affect planning, design, construction, operation, and safety to engineering projects.
May also prepare technical letters, memoranda, plans, and specifications.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements to continuously improve geological practices.

Self-reliance and ability to operate independently with limited direction.

Prior experience with environmental investigations including various groundwater, soil, and soil vapor sampling methodologies preferred.
Prior experience relevant to hydrogeologic investigation, remediation or treatment process testing, development, and design; systems modeling; or engineering applications associated with groundwater, soil, sediment, or surface water preferred.
