The 3D CAD Operator – ECI is responsible for producing accurate, fit-for-purpose drawings and 3D models that meet discipline engineering requirements, project standards, and schedule expectations. This role supports multi-discipline design teams by preparing high-quality EC&I drawings and ensuring documentation is delivered in alignment with DRA procedures.
While performing duties of this job, you may be required to stand, sit in a stationary position 50% of the time, alternate between sitting and standing, push/pull as necessary, reach overhead or below shoulder level, kneel, squat, or stoop.
This role focuses on producing precise, fit-for-purpose EC&I drawings and 3D models, supporting engineers with technical documentation, and ensuring drawing deliverables meet project quality, schedule, and system requirements.
May be required on occasion to lift and carry items such as files, documents, or small packages, typically up to 10 -20 pounds.
- Identify design or scope changes and communicate timely updates to engineering and drawing office management.
- Liaise with engineering and design teams to ensure alignment with project requirements and schedules.
- Interpret instructions from discipline engineers and drawing office management accurately.
- Ensure clear and professional communication during handovers of drawings and related information.
- Manage drawing production within assigned man-hour budgets.
- Ensure all drawings meet DRA, client, and project standards and applicable codes.
- Apply drawing office standards, workflows, and quality procedures consistently.
- Manage drawing properties and documentation workflows within Vault.
- Maintain high-quality output through proper use of software and adherence to established QA processes.
- Produce accurate and complete drawings with appropriate self-checking practices.
- Prepare and modify drawings to meet client, engineering, and project requirements.
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement within the drawing office.
- Report any anticipated or actual drawing budget overruns.
- Ensure deliverables meet project schedule commitments.
- Deliver drawings in a cost-effective, efficient manner.
- Create drawings including Single Line Diagrams, General Arrangements, Schematics, Block Plans, Layouts, Cable Racking and Routing, Block Diagrams, Connection Diagrams, Hook-Up Diagrams, Loop Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, and symbol libraries.

We are seeking a 3D CAD Operator – ECI to support our (Phoenix, AZ office) multi-discipline engineering and project design activities across concept studies, pre-feasibility and feasibility stages, EPCM projects, and EPC project execution.
Close visual acuity to perform activities such as reading, analyzing data, and working on a computer.
Time Management
- 5+ years of experience producing EC&I drawings using AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with drawing office operations and documentation workflows (VAULT).
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and pride in workmanship.
- Strong understanding of multi-discipline engineering environments.
- Effective organizational, communication, and technical documentation skills.
- Electrical Engineering Diploma or higher.
- Experience working within an EPCM or mining project environment.
- 5+ years of experience with 3D cable racking using AutoCAD or Revit.
- Understanding of EC&I standards and best practices.
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
- Work proficiently with relevant software such as AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360, and Vault.
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability for deliverables.
- Knowledge of drawing office procedures and document control workflows.
- Degree or BTech in Engineering (discipline-specific) considered an asset.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 considered beneficial.
