Tank Builder / Welder (Nationwide)

Description

• Perform arc and torch cutting and gouging.
• Operate generators, compressors, tuggers, blowers, grinders, and other power/air tools.
• Weld using SMAW (7018, 7024, 6010), FCAW, and submerged arc machines.
• Operate tank shell buggies, scaffolding, ladders, and specialty equipment.
• Conduct vacuum box, oil, and dye‑penetrant non‑destructive tests.
• Wear and utilize gas monitors, fresh‑air kits, respirators, and emergency rescue gear.
• Operate forklifts, man lifts, boom lifts, and large lifting equipment.
• Apply crane rigging and signaling knowledge during lifts.
• Read and interpret detailed erection and fabrication drawings.
• Plan welding, repair, and construction sequences for tanks.
• Complete job safety analyses, safety audits, and site‑specific training.
• Follow directions and collaborate professionally with crew members.

Requirements

Travel is required about 75% of the time, and all compensation, benefits, and position details are subject to Phillips Tank’s policies and procedures.

• Use come‑alongs, hydraulic jacks, hoists, air bags, winches, and other lifting equipment.

Compensation is an hourly wage based on experience and skill set, plus per diem for meals and lodging, with normal hourly pay for travel, non‑union status, occasional prevailing wage, non‑exempt classification, no PTO or paid holidays, weekly pay periods, and direct deposit available.

Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage beginning on the first of the month after a 30‑day probationary period, with Phillips Tank covering approximately 60% of medical premiums and the employee covering 40%, while the employee pays 100% of vision and dental premiums.

Typical work shifts are daylight, 10 hours per day, five days a week; the position is full‑time but subject to project availability and work schedules.
