The editor will provide copyediting and light substantive editing for a wide range of technical documents, including environmental assessments, traffic studies, stormwater plans, community plans, and marketing proposals. Responsibilities include applying editorial judgment, adhering to grammar rules and style guides, editing Word files with tracked changes, annotating PDFs, navigating SharePoint, correcting structural and formatting inconsistencies, and communicating queries to project teams to ensure clarity and quality.
The company is looking for a detail‑oriented Mid‑Level On‑Call Editor to edit planning, engineering, and marketing documents across multiple disciplines. This fully remote, flexible role offers variable weekly hours, so clear communication about availability is essential. Candidates will complete a brief sample edit of a marketing proposal in Adobe Acrobat using the Parametrix Style Guide to demonstrate their approach.
Applicants should have at least three years of recent editing experience in a technical or professional services setting and be familiar with AEC, planning, or environmental terminology and document types. A strong command of grammar, punctuation, and editorial standards is required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint. The ability to switch among the Chicago Manual of Style, AP Stylebook, and client‑specific guides, and to work independently while meeting tight or shifting deadlines, is essential.
Parametrix is a 100% employee‑owned consulting firm that helps clients deliver resilient infrastructure, vibrant communities, and environmentally sustainable solutions. The position pays an hourly rate of $35‑40, determined by factors such as education, experience, and location, with an equity review to ensure transparency. As an employee‑owner, you will be eligible for an employee stock ownership plan and a 401(k) plan, and you can benefit from flexible work arrangements that support work‑life balance.
