Superintendent

Description

The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing day-to-day field operations, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and specifications. This role works closely with the Project Manager, field crews, and subcontractors to maintain high standards of quality, schedule, and safety on every job.

• Ensure quality control and compliance with project requirements.
• Coordinate subcontractors, equipment, and material deliveries.
• Supervise and coordinate all field construction activities and crews.
• Mentor and lead field personnel, fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability.
• Develop and manage daily and weekly work plans to meet schedule milestones.
• Work closely with project management to resolve field issues and maintain communication.
• Monitor project progress and report daily field activity, labour, and equipment usage.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
• Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to ensure constructability.

Requirements

• Proficiency with field technology tools (e.g., Procore, HCSS, Bluebeam, MS Project) a plus.
• 7+ years of field leadership experience in heavy civil construction.
• Strong background in earthwork, grading, utilities, structures, or roadway projects.
• Proven ability to manage crews and subcontractors on complex, multi-phase projects.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.
• Excellent understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and means & methods.
• Effective communication and leadership skills.
• OSHA 30 and First Aid/CPR certifications preferred.
