Renewables Technicians provide on‑demand support to photovoltaic plant sites across Duke Energy Florida, ensuring reliable operation and ongoing maintenance of the facilities.
The role involves field work with rotating shifts, travel, and the ability to meet the physical demands of operating in various weather conditions and environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve PV equipment issues, design changes, and modifications.
- Schedule and execute maintenance, installations, and plant start‑up support.
- Support equipment performance, reliability, and testing schedules; assign contracts, technicians, and engineers.
- Ensure compliance with operational, environmental, health, and safety regulations (including LOTO and safety meetings).

Candidates must meet basic education and experience requirements and possess a valid driver’s license; additional technical training and related experience are preferred.
- Required: High School diploma or GED, 0‑1 year electrical or Solar PV experience, valid driver’s license.
- Preferred: Associate’s degree or technical certification, 2+ years electrical/Solar PV maintenance, knowledge of power distribution, inverters, Maximo CMMS, SCADA/EMS, and NEC.
- Ability to work 12‑hour rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and extended hours as plant conditions demand.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment, lift up to 50 lb, and live within one hour of the assigned site.
- Travel 5‑15% of the time with occasional overnight trips; weight restriction of 275 lb for equipment safety.
