Instrumentation & Control Engineer (Terreva Renewables)

Description

The Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer supports Terreva Renewables’ portfolio of renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities by ensuring the reliable design, operation, and maintenance of all instrumentation and control systems. This position plays a pivotal role in safeguarding accurate metering, robust data acquisition, and seamless SCADA integration for safe and efficient plant performance.

• Provide technical support to other departments including: development, project delivery, and operations
• Document all system configurations, modifications, and maintenance activities thoroughly
• Lead the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems across multiple RNG plants
• Create preventative maintenance programs for all instrumentation and control assets
• Develop, configure, and maintain SCADA systems for real-time monitoring and control
• Assist with the development and deployment of cybersecurity protocols for control networks
• Lead and promote safety at all projects through deployment of industry best practices
• Ensure that all work complies with industry codes, safety standards, and and best practices
• Ensure accurate metering and data acquisition for compliance and regulatory reporting
• Perform remote and onsite troubleshooting, collaborating frequently with plant operators to resolve technical issues and optimize operations
• Support commissioning and start-up of new or upgraded systems, including calibration and functional testing

Requirements

• Ability to work independently and proactively evaluate and address work opportunities within the area of responsibility
• Proficient with computer software, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Attention to detail while completing multiple or repetitive tasks with a high sense of urgency
• Experience working with ISA, NFPA, API, and similar standards
• Availability for up to 50% travel
• Competence in data analytics and reporting tools
• Deadline-driven and ability to manage multiple tasks
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• Demonstrated proficiency in SCADA systems, PLC programming, HMI development, Ignition software and industrial networking
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with an emphasis on regular collaboration with plant operators
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in instrumentation and controls engineering in an industrial process environment. Specific RNG, biogas, or gas pipeline experience a plus
• Self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to respond quickly to changing project demands
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Project management experience related to controls and automation
• Ability to organize, perform, and prioritize various functions to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
• Ability to read and understand Construction Documents and Specifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related discipline (required)
• Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems
• Experience with RNG production, landfill gas recovery, or wastewater treatment operations
• Strong understanding of process instrumentation, measurement technologies, and data acquisition systems
