Participate in Construction Quality Assurance including the review of shop drawings and submittals, response to request for information, prepare site observation reports, and perform other contract administration tasks.
Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
Provide field engineering support for projects during construction.
Prepare construction drawings and specifications for each design phase of a project.
Develop client management and business development skills, such as preparing proposals.
Assess subsurface conditions, including soil and rock properties and geotechnical conditions, including review and interpretation of field maps, field logs, test data, and other field documentation.
Assist with feasibility studies by conducting research (i.e., desktop study, field reconnaissance) to assess challenges and develop the basis of geotechnical understanding of the program to support the project as it progresses.
Develop familiarity with regulatory agency requirements, technical design standards, and industry standards and guidelines.
Evaluate field and laboratory test data and develop parameters for use in technical analyses.
Select criteria for planning, design, and construction of dams, tunnels, caverns, foundations, slopes, and earthretaining structures.
Prepare technical reports including geotechnical data reports, geotechnical baseline reports, field reports, technical memoranda, computation packages, feasibility reports, design and evaluation reports, construction drawings, and specifications.
Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.
Provide mentoring, coaching, and training of less experienced professionals, as required.
Work with multidisciplinary teams to undertake infrastructure projects related to their planning, design, and engineering.
Prepare engineering designs through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
Plan and implement field exploration and testing programs.
Implement Stantec quality control and quality assurance processes for project deliverables.
Perform site characterizations and evaluate geotechnical hazards.
Prepare basic quantity and cost estimates.
Participate in professional development and training activities.
Provide leadership, coordination, and ownership of tasks from initiation to successful completion.
Conduct numerical analysis using programs such as SEEP/W and SLOPE/W, FLAC, Plaxis, DIPS, UNWEDGE, SWEDGE.
Work in conjunction with engineers, geologists, and other professionals to solve project challenges, performing design calculations as required.

Sound organizational, technical, written, and oral communication skills with attention to detail.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university is required, Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred.
Ability to coordinate tasks with multiple individuals on a multidisciplinary team.
Valid driver's license and good driving record required. Offroad driving may be possible.
Willing and able to travel to conduct field investigation or construction quality oversight work.
Working knowledge of the principles of civil/geotechnical or geological engineering.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software.
510 years of work experience in civil/geotechnical engineering, dams experience is a plus.
Some exposure to or knowledge of numerical modeling and finite element analysis.
California Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment.
