Quality Technician/Specialist

Description

The Quality Control Technician reports to the Production Manager and works in the production environment on ABB’s Reliagear switchboard product line. The role conducts electrical testing, ensures compliance with customer and code requirements, and collaborates daily with manufacturing and quality staff to deliver high‑quality products.

The position involves performing pre‑inspections of mechanical and electrical assemblies, interpreting schematics, and executing a variety of electrical tests. Results are documented in ABB’s quality system, non‑conformities are issued and corrective actions verified, and the technician supports continuous improvement while maintaining a safety‑first mindset.

• Perform pre‑inspection of mechanical and electrical assemblies against bills of materials, schematics, and drawings.
• Interpret electrical schematics and conduct dielectric, continuity, torque, configuration, and functionality tests.
• Document and report quality issues using the Autodesk build platform.
• Provide on‑floor support to manufacturing teams to ensure quality standards are met.
• Issue non‑conformities, verify corrective actions, and record test results in ABB’s quality documentation system.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within production.
• Apply electrical safety practices and maintain a safety‑first approach.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a college diploma (DEC) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent and have at least five years of experience testing electrical products or systems. Bilingual French‑English ability is required, with French for local work and English for external client communication. Proficiency in reading electrical and mechanical schematics, familiarity with UL or CSA standards, and strong autonomy, proactivity, and team spirit are also expected.
