Design Engineer - Substation/Power Distribution

Description

• Provide design engineering services for turnkey substation and power distribution projects.
• Guide design and discipline engineers to create complete electrical and civil packages.
• Lead design deliverables to meet schedule, budget, accuracy and submittal completeness.
• Perform value‑added engineering to improve product quality and drive efficiencies.
• Lead medium/high‑voltage designs for substations and MV power distribution systems.
• Participate in site walk‑downs and develop proposals for new work.
• Create engineering estimates, define scope and budget, and review technical documents.
• Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets.
• Mentor and collaborate with other engineers on the team.
• Develop equipment specifications, single‑line/three‑line, schematics, wiring and interconnection diagrams.
• Produce general arrangement, conduit/cable, grounding, AC/DC control, SCADA and commissioning drawings.

Requirements

Candidates must reside in one of the specified locations (AL, GA, MS, TX, OK, NM, NC, SC, FL, LA, TN); relocation is not offered.

• BS in engineering with 7+ years experience, or AS with 10+ years, or 12+ years experience without a degree.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; no immigration sponsorship will be provided.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Field experience testing/commissioning medium‑voltage equipment is a plus.
• Knowledge of NERC/FERC, NESC, NEC, ANSI, and NETA standards is preferred.

Benefits

The expected annual salary range for this role is $93,750.03 – $137,500.04, based on skills, experience, qualifications and market considerations.
