The Tree Clearance Specialist will identify, inspect, and evaluate trees and brush along utility lines, then submit inspection results and recommendations to clients. This role also plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of assigned tree‑clearance crews, requiring a love of working outside, keen attention to detail, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
Key duties include conducting distribution and transmission right‑of‑way inspections, assessing danger trees, investigating outages, and performing contractor oversight and safety audits. The specialist will also coordinate with property owners and handle additional tasks as requested by utilities.
Applicants must hold a 2‑ or 4‑year degree in forestry, horticulture, environmental science or a related field, or have at least two years of utility vegetation‑management experience. Required credentials include ISA Certified Arborist, Maryland Tree Expert, and Maryland Pesticide Applicator (or the ability to obtain them within 12 months), along with competent Microsoft Office skills and preferably GIS data‑collection experience.
