Description

• Ensure crew safety through training, daily Tailgate Safety Meetings, and enforcement of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
• Lead and mentor field survey staff, fostering high performance and continuous skill development.
• Maintain organized field notes, sketches, and survey control documentation aligned with project standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collect, verify, and process survey field data using proper naming conventions for seamless office handoff.
• Coordinate spect daily with Project Managers and Land Surveyors to set goals, track progress, and resolve field challenges.
• Follow client and company field protocols to guarantee survey data accuracy across diverse specifications.
• Perform control checks, traverse angle closures, and level run validations before data submission.
• Track and document crew timesheets, vehicle usage, and equipment condition to optimize operations.
• Collaborate with engineering, GIS, and planning departments to meet quality standards and project deadlines.

Requirements

Fisher Associates is seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief to lead field survey crews in land surveying projects. In this role you will oversee on‑site operations, mentor team members, and ensure safety, precision, and timely delivery of high‑quality survey data across a variety of project types.

Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED (associate degree preferred), have at least three years of experience as a Party Chief, be proficient with Leica GPS, scanning, and Total Station equipment, and meet physical requirements such as lifting 50 lb, driving a company vehicle, and working outdoors in varied weather.

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or related field preferred.
• Minimum three years experience as a Party Chief; experience with Leica GPS, scanning, and Total Station systems highly preferred.
• Demonstrated high‑quality work, problem‑solving ability, critical thinking, and sound judgment.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to a fast‑paced environment, and take ownership of projects.
• Strong interpersonal skills: integrity, respect, active listening, and collaboration with clients and team members.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb, hold a valid driver’s license, travel regularly to PA/NY sites, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
