The Electrical Apprentice is responsible for installing and terminating conduit, cable, equipment, panels, sensors and various control components. The role also involves constructing and fabricating control panels, performing rough and finish wiring, installing interlocking wiring and conducting wiring check‑outs in accordance with NEC, NESC, NFPA and UFC standards.
Additional duties include troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining electrical control circuits for motors and devices, providing material take‑offs, proposing plan modifications to improve efficiency, testing installed equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and keeping detailed maintenance reports. The apprentice must monitor parts usage, assist in scheduling maintenance, and work in compliance with Silent‑Aire’s safety program and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Candidates must be a registered Apprentice Electrician in Alberta and enrolled in a recognized trade school, able to work under the supervision of Journeyperson electricians as part of a team or independently. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and a solid safety mindset are required.
The position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift up to 50 lb, and the willingness to work in a commercial/industrial environment with overtime as needed. Johnson Controls provides reasonable accommodation for applicants with disabilities in line with AODA and related legislation.
