Rodman for Surveying Team

Description

• Assist with construction surveying activities under direction of Survey Party Chief.
• Ensure security of equipment and work area while conducting operations.
• Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees.
• Prepare surveying equipment for use.
• Participate in daily Pre-Task Plans, follow safety expectations for operation of equipment and tools, select appropriate equipment for performing work, adhere to safety protocols to perform work, and wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment).
• Measure distance between points using measuring tape or electronic equipment.
• Inventory supplies and give supply orders to Survey Party Chief for re-stocking.
• Move and adjust position of survey equipment.
• Maintain and clean surveying equipment including tracking of calibrations.
• Hold measuring devices during construction layout activities.
• Establish points by installing physical markers.
• Identify, communicate, and escalate problems and issues to supervisor for immediate resolution.
• Remove obstructions during construction layout activities.

Requirements

• Reliable transportation required
• Moderate computer skills (e.g., smart phone, iPad)
• Ability to take direction, work independently with minimal supervision, and in team environment
• Minimum of 6 months of construction surveying and building layout experience required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Able to think critically and use g ood judgment to solve proble ms
• Familiar with CAD (Computer Aided Design) preferred
• Ability to travel using various modes (e.g., automobile, train, air) and accommodate night and weekend work
• Ability to apply active listening skills, ask clarifying questions, and complete assignments as directed
• Ability to measure , read, and convey lengths with ruler or tape with high degree of accuracy
• Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills and engage with all levels of teams, clients, business partners, and management
• Display high level of teamwork, integrity, commitment, and leadership in daily operations.
• Fully understand work instructions, project signage, and safety instructions from tool and equipment manufacturers and prepare and inspect tools prior use to ensure safe and working condition.
• Possess basic knowledge and use of surveying equipment (e.g., builder’s level, lasers, laser levels, total stations, and robotic total stations) to complete work assignments
• Knowledge of and able to apply arithmetic , basic geometry , and trigonometry to work tasks
