  • Evaluate customer needs and communicate back to the Sales or Technical team.
  • Supervision of project work and ensure all activities adhere to GFL’s safety program.
  • Involved with execution of chemical and petroleum transfers.
  • Complete and submit Daily Toolboxes, FLHA’s and Near Misses/Haz ID’s.
  • Complete all manifest / TDG paperwork to accompany the waste pick up.
  • Participate and contribute to GFL’s Safety Program.
  • Perform field sample / identification on waste to determine transport, packaging, and disposal requirements.
  • Perform lab packing on small containers according to proper waste packaging protocols.
  • Select and utilize appropriate PPE for the task at hand.
  • Provide field collection and support when required.
  • Conduct field level assessment in respond to customer or sales enquires.
  • Ensure waste is classified and disposed of in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • Active participant in all Incident and Emergency Response work as required.
  • Strong proficiency in computer and mobile device operation, including effective utilization of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows, and other software applications.
  • Reliable team player that is supportive of co-workers.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including shoveling, lifting, moving containers and other heavy materials.
  • Prior experience in hazardous waste industry or related field would be a definite asset.
  • Technical knowledge in lab packing, unknown identification and hazard assessments is highly desirable.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and a fairly clean Commercial Drivers Abstract is required.
  • Working knowledge in BC Hazardous Waste Regulation and WHMIS is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) is preferred.
  • Use of Air Purifying respirator (APR) requires individual to be clean shaven.
  • Energetic, detail oriented with excellent organizational, problem solving, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptive to constant changes in business environment and demands.
  • Prior knowledge in First Aid / CPR, H2S Alive, Fall Protection awareness, NORM Awareness would be an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in environmental sciences, chemistry, or equivalent is required.
