For people to thrive, so must our planet. At EMR, we protect our planet by finding new ways to transform today’s materials into tomorrow’s. By transforming unwanted materials into valuable resources, we will ensure the materials we all want – to continue to create, build, manufacture, and innovate – will always be available. And the planet we all need will have the right conditions to regenerate, without unnecessary mining depleting the earth or carbon filling the atmosphere. EMR employs and empowers the best people – around 4000 across the globe – supporting them with the latest technology. And we partner with our customers to revolutionise the way we design and deconstruct our built world. Together, we: - Recycle, repurpose and reuse metals and plastics. - Innovate to solve the challenges of tomorrow. - Deliver specialist services, such as marine recycling, automotive, fridges, wind turbines and much more. - Stop over 15 million tonnes of carbon from entering the Earth’s atmosphere. Together, we can remake tomorrow.
The ELV Operative role involves deconstructing vehicles and turning every component into a valuable asset through reuse, repurposing, or recycling. The position provides training in FLT licensing, advanced machinery, depollution, and health assessments, and requires regular interaction with customers bringing vehicles for responsible recycling.
No formal qualifications are required; EMR seeks candidates with a strong drive to learn, a competitive spirit, excellent customer service, a positive attitude in all weather, hands‑on problem‑solving ability, and basic mechanical and mathematical competence. Ongoing training and clear career progression are offered as employees advance to higher operational levels.
EMR provides a comprehensive benefits package and a culture recognised by Great Place to Work and the UK's Best Workplaces in Manufacturing, Production & Transportation. The offering includes competitive pay, generous annual leave, enhanced parental support, extensive health and financial wellbeing programmes, and employee discounts, all designed to support staff and their families.
EMR’s values centre on caring and doing – integrity, trust, accountability, and innovation – fostering an inclusive environment where diverse backgrounds are respected, work‑life balance is encouraged, and career growth is supported.
