Perform light excavation with a shovel, to expose buried utilities when necessary
Employees are expected to follow all company and safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as reflective vests, hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and boots
Receive and respond to excavation notices during normal and after hours in accordance with established time requirements
Provide accurate documentation and or sketches related to all locates completed
Operate company vehicle in a safe manner, and maintain professional appearance
Frequently be required to use hands and arms to operate locating equipment, tools, and measuring devices
Use assigned communication equipment to effectively communicate with excavators, utility reps, and company personnel, regarding underground facilities
Read and interpret utility maps or prints to identify the type and size of underground utilities
Occasionally be required to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds
Use lap top computer or other devices to receive, document and close out excavation notices, both during normal hours and after hours
Operate different electronic detection equipment, to locate and mark under-ground facilities within prescribed accuracy limits

Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record (MVR must be acceptable to BKF)
Regularly be required to stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, crouch, and kneel for extended periods
Be able to perform manhole entry using assigned equipment and safety devices
Be required to enter confined spaces and work near active roadways and construction sites
Be able to hear and communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and the public in a variety of settings, including noisy environments
Have the visual acuity necessary to read maps, plans, and utility markings, and the manual dexterity to operate small tools and instruments
Strong attention to detail and commitment to following safety protocols in field environments
Have the ability to walk several miles per day over varied surfaces to complete assigned locating duties
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain, during normal and after hours
High School Diploma, or GED
Work may occasionally require travel between job sites using company or personal vehicles

The typical base salary range for this position is $59,000.00 - $123,000.00 annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. This is an hourly position paid bi-weekly
