Trenchless Estimator

Description

• Provide comprehensive estimating services for large, complex trenchless projects nationwide.
• Manage bid and proposal preparation with a team of civil estimators, support staff, and management.
• Conduct value‑engineering studies, develop CPM schedules, deliver presentations, and assist in final negotiations with clients and construction managers.
• Identify and pursue new project opportunities, perform go/no‑go analyses, and track market trends using business‑development software.
• Travel to client meetings, bid kick‑offs, pre‑bid sessions, closeouts, and interviews as required.
• Lead trenchless pursuits, create work approaches and project schedules from award through completion, and develop risk mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate with subject‑matter experts (structural concrete, paving, mechanical) to produce accurate budgets for all scopes.
• Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and historical productivity data to generate unit price and man‑hour estimates.
• Prepare conceptual budgets, final estimates, and subcontractor bid packages; organize and evaluate subcontractor proposals.
• Present value‑engineering alternatives and CPM schedules to clients and construction managers.
• Maintain Heavy Bid data (labor, crew, activity codebooks) and transfer bid information to project cost budgets on awarded contracts.
• Ensure all supporting documentation backs estimate figures and provide award‑related submittals and follow‑up.
• Track awarded contracts, estimate extra work items, change orders, and credits as needed.
• Assist the contracting team with bid inquiries and final evaluation of submitted bids.
• Collaborate with Business Development to support strategic growth plans.

Requirements

• Hold a 4‑year engineering degree or equivalent technical training and experience.
• Possess 10+ years of estimating, project, cost‑control, or engineering experience in micro‑tunneling or conventional tunneling, including at least 3 years as a senior or lead estimator.
• Experience with design‑build or best‑value contracts preferred.
• Ability to estimate all project types, supervise group work, and prepare complex proposals under principal oversight.
• Additional experience in heavy civil roadway and bridge infrastructure preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, HCSS (Heavy Bid/Heavy Job), Primavera or MS Project, Viewpoint modules, Salesforce, and OSHA training.
• Strong technical writing, proposal writing, and digital device skills.
